Accelerating innovation for sustainable development

We develop tailored programmes and provide consultancy services to support development organisations & social enterprises in leveraging technology as a tool for driving sustainable development in Africa.

#HerFutureAfrica is an entrepreneurship skills accelerator that equips young African women to build tech-enabled businesses that create change in their communities

We launched the first edition in Ghana with funding from the Common Ground Initiative Fund co-funded by Comic Relief & DFID . 32 women entrepreneurs, selected from over 470 applicants attended and were connected with mentors from 10 countries.

10 finalists were awarded seed funding, office space as well as dedicated tech and business support from iSpace, a leading startup incubator in Ghana to support them in launching their businesses.

ATBN has developed a workshop on Gender Lens Innovation based on learning from our work promoting women as drivers of innovation in Africa.
Through an interactive session, participants are equipped with tools for using a ‘gender-lens’ approach to ensure that their businesses and organisations incorporate the women’s needs and concerns as part of their innovation processes, rather than as an afterthought.

We have facilitated Gender-Lens Innovation workshops at various platforms including Planet Earth Institute and Diaspora Doing Development conferences.

ATBN facilitated a session on scaling social innovation in Africa at Oxfam's global leadership team annual meeting. Our goal was to generate a discussion and new thinking around leveraging technology to create social impact at scale in Africa as well as providing case-studies on successful strategies that have been implemented.

"The feedback that I had from so many of my colleagues was about how they were challenged, inspired and invigorated by the session and your inputs. I kept on having colleagues come to me at different times afterwards who were struck by the presentations and group work. It really set the tone and created a joint sense of urgency around collaboration, innovation and scale. "

A workshop bringing together a diverse group of innovators to generate new ideas to address specific challenges faced by agri-tech social enterprises WeFarm and Zazu in scaling their technology solutions in Africa. We were able to help WeFarm and Zazu crowdsource new ideas to address their challenges as well as make useful connections to further their work.

"We really enjoyed the session and came out with loads of new ideas."
